I like a lot of the Malaise Era stuff, but this .... This is an affront to the human race.

It’s cool in cheesy 70s sort of way

The C3 predates malaise. The general rule is that if something was designed before malaise and then stayed mostly unchanged then it was probably ok. See: Corvette, Camaro, Firebird.

I think the Mustang got hit worse.

Really the only thing that hurt the corvette in the 70s was the dismal outputs of the 350, I mean the “hot” L-82 in the latter C3s was 210 meager horspower. The styling didn't change much other than meeting regulations with the swap to rubber bumpers in in 73/74.

I’d love it just for the sake of saying that I own a classic Charger and can show them this!

I think the actual Malaise Era, or the worst of it, was the 90s. The 70s had a few bright spots.

1982 Collector Edition hatch FTW. Too bad they’re expensive (both the whole car and replacing the rear glass) and the seals are apparently questionable at times.

Muscle cars were out, personal luxury coupes were in, and the Cordoba was pretty much the best-selling Chrysler in history, so Riccardo figured what the hell, stick some Dodge badges on it and see what happens.

Because of the extreme squareness of the bodystyle, NASCAR teams were forced to rely on the previous years (1974) sheetmetal for race-spec cars. In order for Dodge to be represented, NASCAR allowed the 1974 sheetmetal to be used until January 1978, when the new Dodge Magnum was ready for race use..
This is just sad.

Though I still think it was a pretty good era for European and Japanese manufacturers.
Well, apart from British Leyland. ¯\_()_/¯

Hey you take that back about the C3!
I will admit though that it started out strong
And progressively got worse through its run
